Kidsgrove Allotments Wrecked
Kidsgrove allotment holders have been left devastated after yobs ransacked the Lamb Street allotment site over the weekend. Kidsgrove Town Council is the current custodians of the site. The damage includes broken shed windows, shed doors ripped off, front of shed ripped off, petty items stolen, smashed double glazing, one door destroyed, ransacked contents of sheds and pigeon corn strewn everywhere.
Dave Plimbley of Kidsgrove Town Council said: “They have broken into my plot, ripped the front of my shed off and turned everything inside out. They smashed windows and pilled the doors off other sheds and green houses and strewn pigeon corn everywhere. They haven’t taken anything of value which means this more mindless vandalism than anything else.”
Kidsgrove Town Mayor Councillor Kyle Robinson said: “A lot of hard work has gone into the site and the allotment holders pay rent to grow vegetables and flowers. Pigeons are also kept on the site. It’s a shocking state of affairs when people feel the need to destroy other people’s property that has been worked so hard for. Let’s hope the Police find the culprits and take action. As we know the same thing happened in Audley recently and the young people involved got off very lightly and didn’t even get a slap on the wrist.”
Staffordshire Police have attended the scene and are now investigating the criminal damage. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 302 of June 16th, or Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555111.
