Kidsgrove 1920’s Ball raises £700

Kidsgrove Town Council 1920's Ball

Kidsgrove Town Council 2014

On Saturday 26th April, Kidsgrove Town Council held the annual Kidsgrove Mayor’s charity ball. I chose the 1920’s theme after seeing a remake of The Great Gatsby film at the cinema.  I would personally like to thank all those that attended to make the evening so successful. Some of the costumes were very authentic. I thought it would be good to list those people and businesses that contributed to the raffle so I have attached the programme of the evening, click link: Mayors Ball 2014

Almost £700 was raised for Staffordshire Sands and other charities.  It has been an honour and a pleasure to work with many local charities over the last 3 years.  I hope the new Town Mayor has just as much fun as I have had organising some of these events for a good cause.  Its such a good feeling to know the work we do has helped us to reach out to so many people in the community with many different needs.

On Saturday 21st September Kidsgrove pensioners were treated to a party hosted by the Rotary club of kidsgrove.  The event that is held each year at the Kidsgrove Victoria Hall included local artists and a magician.

Vanessa Bebbington of the University Academy of Kidsgrove wowed the audience with her theatre and pop music performances.  Why not find out more and book Vanessa for your event.  Click the link to listen to Vanessa in action and follow her on twitter:  p://tinyurl.com/nwj4ths

Tommy Lee King who has performed his Elvis tribute for years also announced his retirement.  He entertained his audience with Elvis hits and many couldnt resist a dance including myself.

Once again this popular community event was a huge success and I want to say thank you to the Rotary Club and the volunteers who helped out on the day.  We appreciate the work that is put in to hold these types of events.

On Saturday 7th September I hosted the Kidsgrove Vintage Fayre at the Kidsgrove Victoria Hall.  The event was a huge success with lots of businesses attending to sell their vintage wares.  I made an appeal for raffle prizes and well over 20 individuals, groups and organisations donated prizes.  The Mayor’s charity made £400 and the Kidsgrove Tesco charity of the year, Diabetes UK made £150.  Many people commented on how different this type of event was for Kidsgrove.  We tried to avoid bric a brac to offer something more upmarket for the people of the town.  Following on from our success we have decided to hold this each year and we will continue to build on our events and celebrations.

Thank you to all of the volunteers that made the events possible including Cllr Elliot Ashton and Mrs Ashton, Cllr Janet Parsons, Deputy Mayor David Allport, Tracy and Sam Holdcroft, Cllr Sylvia Dymond (shining bright like a Dymond!), Kate Coleman, Monica Mannion and many more.  These events wouldnt be possible if it wasnt for the support we get from these fantastic people.  Enjoy the photographs below.

A special thank you to Simon White of the Old Hall in Madeley who donated a £180 stay at the Charles II Suite with breakfast.  This helped us raise lots of money for a good cause and Mr Michael Page claimed the prize.
