NEWCASTLE BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTIONS 2015
My name is Sarah Pickup and I am writing to ask for your support. I am standing as the Labour candidate in the Newcastle Borough Elections for the Ravenscliffe ward. I need your vote on Thursday 7th may.
I have lived in Kidsgrove most of my life and I am proud of my home town. I have served as a local school governor for over 20 years and learnt a great deal about our education system. I am also a college lecturer at Staffordshire University.
I would like the opportunity to serve as your Councillor to fight for local residents, young and old. I will focus on keeping council tax low, tackling anti-social behaviour, protecting our green spaces, help to boost apprenticeships and improve housing conditions.
Since Conservative controlled Staffordshire County Council closed down all of Kidsgrove’s youth clubs, young people have complained they have nowhere to go. Youth clubs are a vital intervention in young lives. This service gave young people the chance to socialise in a safe environment as well as get advice on health and well-being issues. I will help lead the fight to obtain funding for a new local youth service. This will ensure young people are safe in the evenings and not hanging around on our streets. Young people are our future.
I have been angry and frustrated with the Tory County Council refusing to invest much needed funds into Kidsgrove Sports Centre. The building has been left to rot and I want to be a key player, scrutinising the council and I will fight for every single penny that Kidsgrove deserves. I wont be a sitting duck if elected. I will be a thorn in the side of the local authority and hold decision makers to account. Kidsgrove deserves a state of the art sports centre.
I have always had a strong belief that we should give something back in life and I would like the opportunity to serve you. A vote for me will be the PICKUP this ward needs.
As the local candidate, I know some of the main issues affecting the area include dog fouling, litter, speeding traffic, parking and the cost of living. As your Labour Councillor, I will be the problem solver this area so desperately needs. You can trust me to speak up for the area and never remain silent when local people need me.
You can help by voting Pickup on Thursday 7th May. Please use your vote for Labour.

NEWCASTLE BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTIONS 2015
My name is Laura Dillon and I am standing to be Newchapel’s Newcastle Borough Councillor. Firstly, I would like to tell you a little bit about me. I am a mum of four wonderful boys, one who has mental health issues.
I worked with the National Health service for 7 years supporting breastfeeding mums and supporting teenagers through their pregnancy. I have served as a school governor at a local primary school. I have worked for an international company as an area sales manager and known what it can be like to pay child care costs. It isn’t easy to be a mum in 21st century Britain.
I want to support local people, with issues that matter to them. I have had real life experiences and I think this makes me an ideal person to hold office.
I’m committed to helping people who are unable to speak out for themselves, supporting the families who are being persecuted for not fitting a criteria. I want to support families who are being put under huge pressure due to the cost of living crisis.
Newchapel has many environmental issues that can no longer be ignored. Litter and dog fouling needs tackling and cracking down on. I shall be working much more closely with Street Scene to get our streets cleaner and work to prosecute litter louts.
The local bus service MUST be reinstated. Residents have stopped me to complain that the Conservative candidate has done nothing to save the bus service in our area, leaving young students and elderly residents cut off. Labour Councillors in Talke fought for the reinstatement of their bus service and won, so its not impossible to get back what we need. Only I will take the fight to those at the top to get us all a better deal.
I hope you will vote for the candidate that will put you first. I wont be a sitting duck Councillor, I will be speaking my mind.
Please vote Labour on May 7th.
