NEWCASTLE BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTIONS 2015
My name is Laura Dillon and I am standing to be Newchapel’s Newcastle Borough Councillor. Firstly, I would like to tell you a little bit about me. I am a mum of four wonderful boys, one who has mental health issues.
I worked with the National Health service for 7 years supporting breastfeeding mums and supporting teenagers through their pregnancy. I have served as a school governor at a local primary school. I have worked for an international company as an area sales manager and known what it can be like to pay child care costs. It isn’t easy to be a mum in 21st century Britain.
I want to support local people, with issues that matter to them. I have had real life experiences and I think this makes me an ideal person to hold office.
I’m committed to helping people who are unable to speak out for themselves, supporting the families who are being persecuted for not fitting a criteria. I want to support families who are being put under huge pressure due to the cost of living crisis.
Newchapel has many environmental issues that can no longer be ignored. Litter and dog fouling needs tackling and cracking down on. I shall be working much more closely with Street Scene to get our streets cleaner and work to prosecute litter louts.
The local bus service MUST be reinstated. Residents have stopped me to complain that the Conservative candidate has done nothing to save the bus service in our area, leaving young students and elderly residents cut off. Labour Councillors in Talke fought for the reinstatement of their bus service and won, so its not impossible to get back what we need. Only I will take the fight to those at the top to get us all a better deal.
I hope you will vote for the candidate that will put you first. I wont be a sitting duck Councillor, I will be speaking my mind.
Please vote Labour on May 7th.
